What's The Best MSM For Horses?

How much MSM is safe for horses to take?

  • My 15 year old Quarter Horse gelding has severe navicular disease. He does not tolerate Bute at all, so we have him on a Glucosamine supplement as well as MSM. The MSM scoop is for 9340 mg (1/3 oz). We had him on 2 scoops a day for a week and then dropped him to one scoop a day. Since the decrease, he's lamer. Would it be safe to leave him on two scoops a day for long term or permanently?

  • Answer:

my horse is on 2 of that size scoop of msm and 1 scoop of glucosamine, in his feed daily. it hasnt hurt him, its actually making him look and move alot better (has arthitus in his hind quarters) if you are that worried just give your vet a call and ask if that is to much. but your horse being a quarter horse, im asuming hes a fairly big solid horse so it should hurt him. :)
