What exactly is "rhetorical effect?

What's the name of this studio effect (music)?

  • Hi, what's the name of this sound filter? I've seen lots of metal songs use it, here are some examples (I've listed the time of the effect, song, artist, and a link): 2:59 to the end- Disturbed-Run- (note- song contains some strong language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TTazoABjM4 The effect is on the singer's vocals. 0:00 to 0:08: Korn- Twisted Transistor- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBrnGM-2kzE The effect is on the guitar. 2:19-2:38- Autumn Offering- Silence & Goodbye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj26K77VVcQ The effect is on the vocals. So what is the name of this particular studio effect/filter? I'd like to know, and if what programs I could use to achieve it with other sounds.

  • Answer:

Start of with Phaser or Flanger. They are very similiar to my ears. You can buy these in pedal/rackmount form, but obviously better to have them as plugins in a program like Cubase or Logic etc
