What are some good guitar sheet music books?

GUITAR: Music Theory + Learninig Sheet Music?

  • I'm currently stuck with my ability to improve on playing guitar. I am looking for top rated books to buy for learning music theory and to read sheet music (at an intermediate level).

    Your best bet for improving your reading and playing is to take private lessons. These skills are best learned by example from an experienced musician who already has those skills and can correct your mistakes immediately in an individual instruction setting. Try signing up for a theory class at your local community college - theory is important to understand IN SOUND. If you can't hear it, you don't understand it. A good teacher can play the musical examples that appear in the text and help you get through a theory book more quickly and with better understanding.

sounds like you are at an advanced level and are at the point where to get better you have to start taking music theory seriously. it's not very difficult, just takes a little time and a place that explains it clearly, I have an ebook you can use to learn it on my site at http://guitarmanual.typepad.com that is a great place for starting to learn theory, it walks you through major, minor and pentatonic scales and the modes they create and how they work and tie in w/ chords and keys.
