I want to play the synthesizer but have no clue where to begin. What should i buy? How can i learn it?

I'd go for a basic MIDI keyboard you can use with your computer. My first synth was a MicroKorg and it's still my first choice. As for learning, basic piano techniques go a long way. Develop those and finding your feet playing synth is a breeze. Scales and arpeggios. It also depends on the style of music you're going for. If you're wanting to do purely electronic/dance stuff then, to be quite honest there isn't much you need to learn. If you're going for ambient type stuff then I'd look into classical techniques, piano lessons are advised. If you're wanting to be one of those speed keyboard players in metal bands then being classically trained is also advised. Music theory is good to have too. Well, it's pretty much a must. But it helps too - makes things sound clearer and makes sense out of things when it seems complicated. LISTEN TO AS MUCH MUSIC AS YOU CAN. Cannot stress this more.
