Can anyone help me tune my guitar with an electronic/chromatic tuner?
-
I have an FT-800 electric tuner, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Supposedly 440 Hz is what you set the tuner to for standard tuning, but it recognizes the open strings as D# G# C# F# A# and D# (from the 6th string down). However, when I tried it with first finger on the first fret of each string, the tuner recognizes it as EADGBE. Each time it's in perfect tune, but why does it show up differently from when I play open strings to first fret?

Answer:
It is a half tone step between the frets so you have probably just tuned all strings one half step down...

You realize that each fret is a different note, right? Everything is working as it should, however, unless you are intentionally tuning low your open strings should be tuned to E, A, D, G, B, E.
