    Write everything down anyway, anything you don't use can be material for a future project. Take a look here for some ideas on structure http://www.squidoo.com/songwriting-basics

try interpretive dance....and then sit down and write what you are feeling...then do it over again This is the best way to replicate lady gaga. Make sure you do not have too many emotions or your dance moves will start to look sloppy.

I would go with finding a rhythm, beat, or rhyme scheme first. Usually, choruses/bridges have slightly different beats (usually faster and more intense or catchy) than the rest of the song. Knowing what instrument that would go along with your lyrics would also be useful at the beginning stage. Next you should shell out what it is you want your song to be about; easy ones are always of romance, whether finding the girl/guy of your dreams, breaking up, about your ex, about the person you're with, the list goes on. Other topics for a song could be about specific places or things you love or feel strongly about. That's one of the main things to keep in mind; you should always sing or write about things you have strong emotions about. After you have a basic topic, break apart that topic into a "storyline" for your song. consider each verse to be like a chapter in a book, while your chorus and bridge address the overall "theme" of your song. Now that you've got a beat, a theme, and an outline for your song, fit your topic and outline to the beat that you picked for your verses and chorus. It might take a little tweaking--you might even need to change the beat--but it'll get there. after you have the general flesh of your song worked out, try tweaking some words, messing with the rhythm, and mixing up the sounds a little bit. With luck, you'll get a pretty good song out of it. ^^;

Structure- Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus (you can play with the structure a bit, this is just basically a skeleton of a typical radio pop song) Lyrics are difficult, you kind of have to just keep reworking them. I find writing everything in a letter to someone (obviously not to send, just to kind of organize everything) but maybe that's just me. Just don't over think it. It ruins the song. And I'm assuming you haven't written many songs, so it won't be perfect, but the more you write, the better your songs will get. One of the most popular topics is love, and heartbreak. So you could write about someone your dating, or who you dated, or someone you liked, but didn't like you back, or world issues, or friends... there's SO many different things you could write about, you could try writing a bunch of songs all about different things. It'll help your writing, and you'll get all your feelings out, and a bunch of songs. Anyway, hope I helped :)

This is a good example on how to fit long phrases into small lines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbkmnkIfgIo Also, don't just write one song to fit all you're feelings into, write several. And to structure it, an interesting way is: Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Instrumental-One line from the chorus-bridge-Chorus-Fade
