Does anyone know any good dubstep/house/trance music?

Does anyone know of any good Hippy music?

  • I'm doing this project thing for my music class and you have to like, take music from a certain era and kind of translate the words or note from it into a way that everyone understands it, so I chose the hippy era. you know like seventies music. so if anyone knows of any, then tell me, cause i'm having a lot of trouble finding some.

  • Answer:

Haha, you said 'Hippy Music' then said it was from the seventies. That would be disco music. If you want sixties, with is the ACTUAL 'hippy' music, I would recremend White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane, Turn, Turn, Turn by The Byrds, and Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In by The 5th Dimension.

OK, firstly, the hippy era wasnt the seventies. As far as music is concerned it is reknowned to have started in 1966/67 with albums such as The Beatles: Revolver and Jefferson Airplane: Surrealistic Pillow (i feel that their first album is a bit too bluesy to be psychadelic) and ended in 1969. The music of the era was called psychadelic music. Various things had an impact on this unique time and the music that came from it. To touch on a few: - The Vietnam war. - Legislative changes to human rights (The Race Relations Act in the UK). - Medical advancements such as the invention of the pill which meant women could have sex without getting pregnant (gives meaning to the term of the time "free love") - The humanist movement which had become popular in psychological circles and encouraged creativity and promoted (at first until it became a party drug) the benefits of the use of LSD for treating people with problems. Some other bands that are big from this era are: The Beatles Jefferson Airplane The Doors Spirit Bob Dylan Pink Floyd The Moody Blues Love Led Zeppelin The Young Bloods Status Quo Thats all i can think of off the top of my head. I am sure if you do a youtube search on some of those you will find examples of their songs. You must of heard these two songs by Jefferson airplane, they are both CLASSIC psychedelic songs of the hippy era, "somebody to love" was reputedly written as a mickey taking response to The Beatles "i wana hold your hand" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1cfTMdjkYM The era seemed to fade away after Woodstock in 1969. It was the big climax that everyone planned for, many thinking that if "something" was going to happen with the hippy movement, it was going to happen there. They all partied hard and had a good time, and that was it...Other things impacted on the anti climax such as the Charles Manson murders which were inspired by his interpretation of The Beatles song: Helter Skelter on the White Album. Hope that helps, you picked an AWESOME era of music for your project! ; )

Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention (never got high but wrote some good tripping songs for those who did.) Moody Blues - Classical mixed with hippy style Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Carnevil number 9 (good one) more mainstream / ones you may have heard of, kinds would be of course Led Zepplin the Who the Kinks Bad Company
