Which guitar should i get or amp?

  • I want to get a new guitar specifically this one http://www.guitarcenter.com/Dean-Dave-Mustaine-VMNTX-Electric-Guitar-104604251-i1372105.gc or an amp, thing is i don't know jack **** about amps. at the moment i have some shitty starter ibanez that i got about 5 or 6 years back, also an amp that came with the starter pack, now i want a new guitar and amp, thing is i don't have the money to buy both, so which do i upgrade 1st, the guitar or the amp, which will give me that metal/deth metal sound that i want so badly. also i want that guitar because i love dave

An amp will change your tone far more than a guitar. The best guitar in the world is going to sound like crap through that amp. Not sure what you want to spend on an amp but if it's the same $300 budget you have for the guitar it will have to be solid state, which is fine. The Line 6 amps are very popular and they are fine amps, but the Fender Mustang II 40 watt is a much better sounding amp to me.

The thing with finding an amp for death metal is that you just need to find a loud one. Doesn't matter about the tone, as all distinction is lost in the mix when the mids are dialed down. Solid state would be best. At your level, a line 6 would be good for the money. You can mix and match amp sounds and models within the amp modeler.
