How to get a record deal?

Basically; how do you get a record deal?

  • i'm not going to bore anyone with the details but myself & a couple of friends have formed a band and we were wondering how to go about getting a record deal. we NEED a record deal. we ARE the better then good. we ARE in it for the long haul & aren't afraid of hard work. however, we are only sixteen and fear we won't be taken seriously. we aren't shy to perform or your typical rude teenagers. we know what we want but we are too sure on how to get their and that's where we hope to get some advice and help. we are all truley greatful for any help or advice giveen, thanks in advance! X

    Play as many shows as you possibly can. Get to know other bands, whether that be local or more well-known. Build a strong fanbase, reply to fans, and chances are you'll get spotted. Having connections, lots and lots of connections, always helps. Also, some record labels let you send in a demo which they'll review and talk to you about it. Google record labels around your area, or try indie labels such as Hopeless or Fearless. Good luck!

Try getting a fanbase started on youtube and/or myspace. Book every gig you can and if you get a large following record labels will take you more seriously. I suggest having your band cover some popular songs, that is the quickest way to get views on youtube.

post your music on youtube, myspace and facebook. the more fans you have the better chance you get at getting signed. you could always try orange unsigned act. google unsigned music and add your music to all they websites that will let you.

best option - go on x-factor next option - sing in pubs/clubs etc...ur bound to get spotted somewhere.
