I have a singing problem.

Problem with my singing?

  • so i have this dilemma with my voice. I love to sing, and i think im okay at it. The problem is, when i sing, i tend to be too soft, and there's little inflation so it sounds like im being lazy. When i try and get louder it ends up sounding harsh and croaky like a frog or an un-oiled creaking door. I know im singing with my diaphragm and lifting my soft palate, so why is this happening to me? Do you think im being to critical of my voice and that my "softer" singing voice is as good as it gets? Thankss

  • Answer:

It sounds good. If you want to get louder, you might want to warm up before you sing. And practice singing loudly ( not loud enough to hurt your voice.) You might want to drink a lot of water too.

Try standing up when your singing and keep your feet in line with your shoulders. Keep your chin straight forward but no high up. Imagine your voice is filling the zygomatic arch in your cheek bone/temple area. When the zygomatic arch is filled, your voice will sound richer and sweeter. And keep your mouth wider and your tongue behind your bottom teeth so it doesn't block the sound from coming through.
