Can we break the Shannon capacity?

Can anyone give me some tips on increasing my lung capacity for vocals?

  • lately, since i started screaming full time again after a month+ break because of my tonsillectomy I've found myself not being able to hold out a scream/growl very long anymore, and i don't know if this is because of the way I'm doing vocals or if my lung capacity, or strength of my diaphragm is to blame, i have noticed that when i breathe in with my diaphragm i often can not fill my lungs as much as i can when i breathe with my chest, and my stomach feels tight, i need to increase my stamina/lung capacity as quick as possible, anyone got any good breathing exorcises, and breathing techniques that could help, or maybe give me a short list of things i may be doing wrong considering im sort of rusty? help would be appreciated, thank you so much

  • Answer:

Take a deep breath in and totally fill your lungs with air and practice slowly releasing all of the air in your lungs and make a "sssss" sound while doing it.
