Where or who do songwriters send their songs to?

Songwriters sing their own songs...?

• I would like to learn info about hit songs which were taken back by the original songwriters and sing them on their own, like Michael Bolton sang 'How Am I Supposed To Live Without You' in 1989, actually, Laura Branigan had turned the song into a hit in 1983, moreover, Richard Marx sings Nsync's "This I Promise You" was a good example, too. Could somebody give me more songs like these?

  that depends There is the profession of Songwriter, Songwriter do not necessarily need to sing the songs that they write , but there are many musicians who do it, like Kurt Cobain, he was his own songwriter :)
