What is the difference between a high pitch voice and a tenor timbre?

Difference between resonance and pitch? Voice still sounds low?

  • Alright. I am a Baritone. Even when I sing high notes G4 for example. My voice has a "low type quality" to it. So when I sing high notes there is a "bassy" feel to it. Is this because of resonance or pitch? What i'm saying is, is it because of my resonance that it sounds low or is it because my vocal cords are thick and that is why it sounds low? Other question: What causes resonance? Is it the adam's apple, nose, neck? please be specific.

  • Answer:

Both questions you have asked refer to the strength of the diaphragm muscle. To balance out lower and higher notes, use singing exercises such as LIP TRILLS ON A SCALE (definitely the most useful), and singing separate vowels on a pair of notes of a scale e.g. C Major - Ah Ah (C,D) Eh Eh (D,E) Ee Ee (E,F) Oo Oo (F,G) Oh Oh (G,A) Ah Ah (A,B) Ay Ah (B,C') and back down the scale. This helps for making all the vowel sounds even :) Resonance comes ENTIRELY from the diaphragm, so to make the resonance even throughout your vocal range, try lip trills on scales EVERY time you even think about singing! It may sound silly, but it helps soooo much! Hope this helped!
