What do you do in your First Singing Lesson?

I'm taking my first singing lesson soon?

  • I want to know what they are like. Like what should I expect? I'm a little nervous... Thanks :)

    I've had them and i teach them now.. haha.. i'm 19 . lol. but anyway. one tip i can give you, just be you. Don't feel insecure about your voice. They are there to help you not to judge you. He or she is going to ask you to sing because he or she is a singing coach... its there job. ITs like if I go to football tryouts and i don't tryout, but i want to play. How is the coach supposed to help me if he doesn't know where I'm at at skill wise? thats what you have to do, he or she will help you excel, they wont excel for you but you need to do it. they'll probably do warmups with you, testing your upper and lower range. just go with it even if it feels too high or too low. they'll probably want to hear what your goals with singing are; the style of music you want to do, how much practice and effort you think you'll be able to put in. ask them any questions you have about proper technique or the mechanisms of singing, and explain any problems you have. as the previous poster said, do NOT be embarrassed to sing normally with them. i always try things that my voice teacher suggests at least once, even if i'm sure i'll sound horrible (a lot of the time, her suggested techniques end up helping after all). don't worry if your voice cracks, is out of tune, or has some other issue; the voice teacher is there to help you, not judge you.
