How can I strengthen my natural speaking voice?

How to strengthen quality of head/soprano voice?

  • My chest voice has become very strong over the past year or so, and I only want it to keep improving. However, I'm now having problems with my head voice (though it never was extremely strong to begin with). I feel as if it is being restricted or overpowered by my much stronger chest voice. It is soft and sounds as if something is blocking the sound from coming out, in a way. How can I improve my head voice while still maintaining my chest voice? And I'm 16, female, for all it's worth Thanks in advance! I sing mostly musical theater (it's my entire life!), if anyone needs to know. I think I need to make this a little clearer- it isnt that I can't hit the notes, it is more so the quality of my soprano voice.

Is it possible you could be overworking in your chest voice? If you press too much in one area of the voice, you can lose the other registers.

I've had a similar problem too... I'm not an expert, but heres my input. I found that using more air and lifting more helped make my head voice clearer. I was dragging my chest voice up and it was pulling my head voice down making it sound really bad and flat. Try practicing jumping octaves from chest voice to head voice and make them blend (ie middle c to high c) and try not to scoop your voice to the higher note. Good luck, and I hope this helps.
