No I want to learn how to sing, but I'm shy?

I want to take a singing class but im embarrassed of my horrible voice...?

  • I really dont care what people think of my singing, and i know its horrible, and i sing everywhere.Thats when im all, "i like to sing so im going to do it no matter what anyone says". But when, i dont know, when im put on the spot i get all embarrassed and i dont want to sing. But i like to sing and i want to learn how to sing properly. And if i take a singing class, does it really make you sound better? I mean, dont you have to have natural talent to start off?

  • Answer:

im a vocalist/ instrumentalist [clarinet, piano, and saxophone] and i know that the term "practice makes perfect" makes a lot of sense. vocal lessons can help you improve so long as you want to learn. i started singing in church choir and musicals in 4th grade and, honestly, was horrible. through years of practice with skilled teachers i am now one of roughly 17 students in my highschool in the varsity singers group [i sang in it last year as a freshman and will be returning next year as one of 3 sophomores]. truth be told, natural talent is hard to come by so you arent alone. maybe start off in a large group [school or church choir] and become comfortable singing written music, since you will be made to do so in lessons. groups can teach you nearly as much as lessons without having to be put on the spot. once you feel like youve made a good enough improvement you could start lessons with more confidence.

I'm a musician (pianist) and I started taking voice lessons a couple years back in college because I thought it would improve my confidence and stage presence (I'm kind of shy lol). I had sung in choir and was an OK singer. The voice lessons helped me incredibly!! I found this voice I'd never thought I could have. From my perspective, training and learning how to engage the physical mechanisms involved with singing can really help a person to improve their vocal range and control. Even if you don't become an opera virtuoso, I'd say go for it!!

You have what it takes to be a great singer. You just need some personal coaching. Contact me and I can help you out. I'm a professional who's won grammies and a self taught artist. P.S. You sound young and may not have a lot of money, so I'll try my best to help you out in the best way possible. If you're serious about singing professionally, take this step.
