How do you find out your vocal range?

How can I find my vocal range? I have no singing teacher to tell me?

  • I really have no idea how to find out what I am (I know nothing about singing) what can I do to find out?

    go online. youtube you can do it on youtube and find a piano to help find your range thats how i found mines and the piano will be playing go up and down the scale and its going to have lows and highs where ever your most comfortable note is on the low part without hurting yourself thats when you can mark it down like G2 thats a low note if you can hit that then you're an alto and they also have the chart next to it with voice types alto, soprano etc... Gosh, I don't know...sing your highest note (then sing your lowest note). Is this rocket science?

You could learn an instrument or sing with someone else playing an instrument and practice singing along until you find the range that feels the most comfortable to sing with. It took me awhile to figure it out.I used to think singing in lower keys would be better for me (D tuning for example),but turns out that higher keys brought out my voice more. I'm sure this didn't help but it was worth a try.
