Is anyone amazing at singing alto?

Singing as a teenage female. I sing my heart out, practice correctly, does it just come down to talent?

  • Hello. I've recently fallen in love with singing as a fourteen year old, soon to be fifteen. I've always adored music, but I've decided to pursue it openly. I am in chorus and I'm planning on taking private vocal lessons. I also play guitar. When I hear myself singing normally, I really like it. But, when I listen to my recording I sound way too young and I dislike it, it feels like there's something missing. I practice everyday, give my all in chorus, etc. I'm an alto, so getting too high or too low is uncomfortable but I'm working on it. I experiment constantly with my breathing, using diaphragm, etc. I feel like I'm singing correctly; but when I listen to my self it is typically disheartening. Sometimes I'll get the notes perfectly and I'll love it, but it isn't as constant as it should be; Like I need it to be if I want to be a professional. Now, I did some research and I learned that girls' voices still need to mature or something? I hope it's true because my voice just does not sound like a mature singer at all, but singing is my passion. Can anyone out there give me some mature/professional tips, tricks, advice, stories and whatever to help? It's my dream but right now I'm feeling rather down and confused and insightful words would be much appreciated. Please and thanks! :)
