No I want to learn how to sing, but I'm shy?

Can anyone learn to sing?

  • I want to learn how to sing im wondering if anyone can do it.. No i dont wanna be a SUPERSTAR.. i just want to play a keyboard and learn to sing decent!! enough to impress a pretty lady ;) but i sound like ****.. just flat and off key i dont know how to keep on a note or im all over the place sloppy.. i sound more like im speaking with rhytm lol yo im just being honest here.. you think its possible for me to learn to sing? im NOT william hung im not HORRIBLE but im not good.. i have flashes of oh that was nice but for the most part i suck... im just wonderin if it could be an acquired skill.. i want to get on like R&B singer jeremihs level hes very limited if u listen to him but he has a nice tone thats all.. so to summarize is singing a talent or acquired skill can anyone learn to sign decent!!! (decent not miriah carrey status)

    anyone can GROW as a singer, but it's also like - you have it or you don't. not really acquired: if you have no sense of pitch you'll most likely stay that way.... but you can still get a little better technically

Yep unless they have an ear to brain problem, caused through for e.g. ear infections and bad hearing. It's all about memory. The more you sing with music playing the better your memory will get. It's called muscle memory as well. You see the torso muscles have to work in synch with your larynx to sing notes. High notes you work harder, lower notes you relax off. So the more you practice the better your memory will become for the notes. Just be aware that if you start singing incorrectly, that too will go into your memory, so you will always sing that particular note wrong. {usually high notes] But that's what a voice coach is for - to pick up your bad memories/habits and change them. Just keep singing.

Well it takes a lot of time to learn. I recently started practicing, and I sounded like crap in the beginning, but I got better over time. Still not professional though. Just don't smoke, that will ruin whatever you have left, and don't drink unless you want to sing "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. :P
