How can I make my voice stronger?

• I'm a girl and my voice is a little high pitched. How can I make it stronger(not deeper, or too much deeper) so it sounds better? What types of exercises and stuff? thanks!

  A key in singing is controlling your breath. Hard to describe but here goes: Inhale. Now you want to inhale a little more and pretend to lift that breath UP HIGHER inside you. Like if you want to improve your posture. You are then using your diaphram to control your breath. Like inhaling and sucking your stomach in and up. YOu are tightening your stomach muscles. You should be able to hold a note much longer this way. You can also project your voice much further and louder this way. In theater before microphones, you needed to be able to project your voice so that the person in the back row of the audience could hear you. Not screaming or yelling, it is called projecting. When I was little, I used to practice on the oldies song "Hair" near the end of the song, they hold a note for a long, long, time with one breath. See if you can do it. Control how much of your air you expel. With practice, you can easily hold a note for a long, long time. You do not have to "blow" out or exhale while you are singing. For instance, if you inhale deeply to yell "HEY" then you are exhaling air at the same time. In that example you can feel that exhalation. Now hold a note as long as you can. YOu should be able to feel in front of your mouth and not notice air coming out like it did with the yell. This is very difficult to expalin but if you can understand, you will be a MUCH better singer. This allows you to hit notes higher and clearer and to be louder without "yelling". If you can't hit a note, try inhaling in and up like this and you should be able to reach it if it is within your range. You are always inhaling in and up. There is an oldies station that broadcasts on the Internet. It is CKOC 1150 in Hamilton, Ontario or just try googling the song "hair" It was from a musical. 60's 70's??? Just listen to the end of the song for them to hold the note and try to do that. Even as a heavy smoker I could hold this note no problem.
