I need help singing and also with my Range!?
-
Hello guys I need some help with my singing. Naturally my voice can get really low so i guess you could say I'm a bass. I can sing all the way to a A (up) and thats where my voice starts to crack and bad...I want my range to be like M. Shadows. I really don't care too much about sounding like his (although it's amazing) because I want my own style. I really just need the range and when I start singing higher I loose the comfortable sounding kind of bass sound and It sounds strained and not natural. Please Help me with this guys I really need help to fix this. My band is going to be playing Avenged Sevenfold style of music and I need to be able to have a good range. Also, my voice also sounds like I'm trying to hold back while I sing but i'm not. I'v seen so many videos and websites and none address this specifically. Please Help!

Answer:
I'm sorry, you are not really giving any information here. A on what octave is your highest note? How many As below middle C? Bass or Baritone. Now if you want to sing higher I would suggest doing scales or singing songs with notes just a little higher than your used to and go higher each time. Once I started singing queen things got easier for me. You need to sing the notes until you can hit them and they sound comfortable, or maybe you aren't meant to hit those notes. You can always try to sing a little higher though and find out. Sing songs that are cleanly sung, so no to bands like a7x or guns n roses, nothing with a rasp. Hope I helped.

EDIT: Thanks for coming back . At 15 you still have 2 or 3 years before puberty and the larynx growth is still happening so there will STILL be some loss of high notes coming. It is a sign of maturity for a male when he sings with that lower range with fullness of frequency and projection. Sorry but it's genetic and you WILL be losing those higher notes. When the voice has settled at about 17 or 18 you will learn to sing False Voice - Falsetto- to get the high notes you want, but at the moment your laryngeal muscles and vocal ligament just will not cope with the added muscle contraction. The muscles that are contracting may be the feeling you have of a voice being held back as it just doesn't want to work that hard for high notes the brain knows it just can't get anymore. Sorry sweetie your becoming a man you aint a little boy any more. There is no way to settle what your vocal range is as every week or even days you will get a growth spurt and the whole range will change. Watch your adams apple - as it drops, lengthens, widens and grows thicker - so your voice will get lower. Other muscles drop too, but I aint gonna go there, ask your Father! At about 28 your Torso, legs and arm muscles will also have grown fully and then the lungs will be ready for the big voice as well. Good luck with your gigging - you may have to look at a whole new repertoire.
