How can I practice my voice for singing?

Can someone with a bad singing voice practice so it doesnt sound so terrible?

    I have an awful singing voice..so bad.. that when i go to karaoke.. I read peoples lips saying "pleaseee let this stop" I have practice for 2 years now because of this..I record myself sing and then watch the playback..I realise I have improved alittle..but only by changing the way my natural voice sounds.. I tend to have a sensitive boy band voice which is really unatractive.. so I tend to now sing with a deeper voice..anyone can change the way of their voice sounds..the way you talk and the way you sing are two distinct voices.. well for some people I think they are..who's beautiful singing voice sounds nothing like their speaking voice..I would sing to a friend (an honest friend) and ask him/her what you can improve on..if it's your voice..try to adjust it and change the tone and color of your voice..it's not easy but trust me.. it can be done

The more you practice the better control of your voice you gain. Of course, voice coaches are good to have as well since your voice always sounds different to yourself than to others, which isn't true with musical instruments. Taking lessons from somone that knows what they are doing will improve control and technique. If you just have a bad sounding voice even when on pitch, not much can be done for you. Some are blessed with a good natural voice that ends up being great when they learn how it use it properly. Some people sing well with training even if their natural voice is not that great. Just depends. If you want to sing, take some lessons and see how it goes.
