Is this a good singing range?

Is f2 to e5 a good or bad singing range for male voice?

  • I'm comfortable singing between g2 and b4. I can reach notes up to e5 but Not so comfortable singing there. I'm wondering what type of voice I have, baritone, tenor, alto and that.

  • Answer:

well... There are different vocal types for men. Bass, Baritone, Tenor, and Countertenor. A countertenor is usually a man who sings in the female alto/mezzo-soprano range. Although you can sing that high (countertenors usually sing to f5), you may not be a countertenor. You see, countertenors usually cant sing low notes at all (lowest at G3). Tenors usually sing from C3 to C5. And Baritones Af2 to Af4. The best way to decide is from what your tessitura is (the most comfortably sung area of your voice). If singing in your head voice is the most comfortable for you then you're a tenor. If singing in your mixed/head voice your a low tenor. For your mixed/chest baritone, if you're most comfortable singing in your chest voice you're a bass. And of course, if you're most comfortable with singing in your head voice/falsetto then you're most likely a countertenor. Of course I cannot classify without hearing you, but that's my best way of telling you what you are from my knowledge of music. My best guess would be a tenor. Most opperatic tenors will have the range you have (perhaps not the low notes but the high ones, yes). Keep singing! Your range is fabulous! :)
