How to practice singing?

How can I practice my singing ability?

• Im not in any major in singing I just wanted to learn how to sing, any good advice on starting to learn? what exercise should I do? I know it will take time to have a voice, i just dont know how the start to practice it in a proffesional way. Thank you!

  this may sound cheesy but the rock band video game is actually a great way to learn and practice a singing ability. you can pick any song you like on the tracklist and give it a go. it has four different levels of difficulty and measure your pitch according to the song that your singing. in this way you can see weather your going too high or too low and adjust accordingly. it does take practice but I have found it very useful in my experience. hope this helps
