How about a Singing Coach?
-
Yet again another musical question(: Here goes, Okay, I was wondering from any of you who may have experience with a singing coach or being a singing coach yourself, if I should take singing lessons. Ovbiously, you don't know me in person, but more about I'm nervouse about 1.) having my parents be bother some and 2.) which ties in with #1, embarassment. I tend to be rather shy and would feel nervous about singing in front of someone and doing badly. I can sing fairly well and in tune, I have a pretty good ear so I suppose I critique myself harder, because I know how it should sound from playing and excelling at flue for the past over 3 years. (WOW it's been awhile(; ) But anyway, I don't do sports, and music is something I'm just good at, and I'm already thinking of picking up guitar again, but I love to sing. It's fun. And more than that, I want to be better. I want to be good, I want my voice to be awesome. So maybe I won't be the next lead singer of a globaly loved band, fine. But I'm still interested. So any advice and experience from all of you would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!(:

Answer:
Voice lessons are a great way to improve your voice and take you singing to the next level. If you have played flute for 3 years, you must be able to read music. That is definitely a positive. You will be able to learn much more about singing that way rather than just learning the melodies to songs. Aside from improving your voice, lessons will give you much more confidence. Everyone is afraid to sing in front of people. That is normal. Lessons will help you overcome this. You should definitely talk to your parents about it and see if it is possible. Lessons are generally run from $15-20 sometimes $25 a lesson. If you know any music teachers, I'm sure they could point you in the right direction. Otherwise, call the local music store and ask them to hook you up with someone. Good luck!

Voice lessons are good for anyone, especially if you are talented in school. If you do start lessons try some musical theater songs. I've been taking lessons for almost 9 years now and I was really shy when I started. but when you are singing musical theater you can be someone else. if you make a mistake you just remember "I meant to to that" :)
Ive been acting on stage for about 2 yrs now. and when i first started i was very nervous. But i also knew that if i was that nervous i would also do worse then i could of done when i was chill about it. i think you should just imagine your self singing in the shower and do it like that. just think they arent there. Youll be fine.
