Am I a bass or baritone?

What does that means?? (F2-E4) Bass or Baritone?

  • I was testing my vocal range and the result was: Highest note=E4 Lowest note=F2 My teacher told me I could hit a E2, but I said the lowest note I feel comfortable singing is F2... So, If I can go from F2 to E4 what am I in terms of voice type; bass or baritone? Another question of mine is, I've notice I can hit higher notes now then when I first started taking singing lessons, that was months ago... So, does that means my range can increase? Thank you.

  • Answer:

I would say you are a bass-baritone. I myself have a range from E2-F2, so my range is 2 notes larger than yours, but I too experience that I can hit higher notes than that would suggest. I think that when your signing, for say the high note at the end of a song, your range can expand to accommodate your needs thru possibly adrenaline. It's no scientific study, but that's my guess. But your range most likely has expanded. To help it grow along, do scales daily and constantly test your range and you can document that exact day your range is larger. I hope it helped:)
