How do you stop nasal singing?

How to stop singing with my throat?

  • I recently realized that the reason my throat is sore sometimes after I'm done singing is because I sing with my throat. I also recently realized how bad this habit can be. How can I break this habit? Most of the answers to already asked questions said to take singing lessons, but I don't have time for those right now, since I'm currently doing guitar, piano, working, going to school, and I will be starting theory in a few weeks. So are there any tips that will help, or exercises that I can do in the meantime?

  • Answer:

Sing with your stomach is hard to explain but try making sounds starting from your stomach

Change your breathing. When you breathe your shoulders shouldn't move. My teacher told me to breath like a baby; that your stomach should move out when you breathe.

Correctly breathing can help. Breathe using your diaphragm, which is that muscle in your abdomen. When you breathe in, try to stick your stomach out, and when you breathe out, move the air out from your abdomen. Once you get the hang of it (it really shouldn't take long at all) try singing at the same time as you're exhaling. When making this adjustment, you'll have to think about it every time you sing, but it's worth it to keep doing it.
