How can I strengthen my natural speaking voice?

If you "train" your speaking voice to be higher, would your singing voice be higher too?

  • I was just wondering, if you changed worked to change your speaking voice to be higher (like, really changed it, so that it would be like that naturally all the time), would your singing voice eventually get higher pitched? Same thing if you changed your voice to be lower. Thanks in advance!

  • Answer:

Singing and speaking aren't the same thing. I have a very low speaking voice for a biological female. I sing soprano very naturally and very easily. In fact, it's uncomfortable for me to sing at the same pitch level as my speech for any length of time. That probably means I should be speaking higher than I do, but there you have it. Singing involves different things than just talking. Most people unless there is some physical or mental disability involved can talk without any difficulty. Singing doesn't come as easily to all. Even when it comes to breathing, it's far different for singing than it is for speaking. It may take more breath to sustain and sing one word, than it would be to speak an entire sentence! If you want to work on your singing voice, you take singing lessons from a qualified teacher.

Yeah, it only makes logical sense. In fact, if your singing voice /didn't/ change, I'd question it.
