How to find bands that need lead singers?

I want to be in a band. I'm 13, female, and have some vocal experience. My mom said that I couldn't start MY OWN band until I was 16, but she never said anything about being in some one else's band. Does anyone know how I could find people/bands that are looking for members in my style(s) of music? I live in Charlotte, North Carolina. Can anyone help me please? Thank you! there are a lot of things that are involved in being in a band or group, you said you were 13 so that's kind of young but you could make it if you have the maturity and the discipline and i don't know what you look like but that helps too
