What are some good singing tips?

What are some good singing techniques and how do you do them? Tips Also?

• Hey guys. Im a 15 year old and im trying out for my school's most advanced choir. I don't have any training at all and I'm a baritone/bass that's what my choir friends tell me. Is there any techniques or exercises on how to sing higher and to sustain your voice? I've also heard of a falsetto that makes your voice goes higher but im not sure how to do that. Thanks for the help! =) P.S. I learn from listening to some older songs and trying to follow along. Im trying to sing like Marvin Gaye. =)

  Well, I'm a girl soprano, so I don't know how much I can help, but to sing high, you usually have to use ur diaphragm and to make sure it comes out good, imagine ur voice sailing over your head out in front of you in a rainbow type shape and that usually works. also make sure u take good breaths and use ur head voice. you also need to lift ur soft palate when breathing in and keep it open when ur singing. Support, support, support is key! if you search youtube there is a lot of good tips. i personally take voice lessons from a professional vocal coach, but if you don't wanna pay that kinda money than youtube is good too.
