From horrible voice to heavenly?

Can a horrible voice be transformed?

  • I loooove to sing but I have a horrible voice. I can't hit high notes well and I don't feel my voice is very plesant. I feel my voice is flat, airy and heavy. I remember ny voice was much sweeter, cleaner and kind of a "sensitive voice?" Ever since I was young I would sing all the time. I remember when I was like 5 years old I was in a store with my mom shopping clothes and I was singing along with the song that was playing and a lady told my mom she should put me in a music school or something. But she never said anything about my voice she just said I should be in a music school that they start young..something like that. When I was in middle school My bestfriend and I would sing together she said I have a BEAUTIFUL voice but I always thought she was exaggerating. I recorded myself and I saw it was kind of nice but I had pitch problems but I knew I wasnt that great of a singer. She put me to sing to three other girls and they said I had a very nice voice. Then 2 years later I joined a musical that required people to sing and I got picked but there was people who sang SO much better than me I got intimidated and stopped. There was problems in my house and I would yell really loud because my family would pick on me non singging related things things like weight and I would scream. I used to be able to scream like you know, those little girl screams really loud and I can't do that and now I have a swollen tyroid thing on my neck. I don't have a voice anymore (that is...if I ever had one...). I don't know if I can still "sing" but I wish I was still able to. I love to sing, I sing when no one is around but idk. I wish I could sing like before or better. Is there a way I can get that back after it got ruined or something with the yelling. Can voice coach or something transform a horrible voice into a nice voice? idk.advice or something? I feel really bad that my voice got ever more messed up. I feel bad that something that I have a passion for doing I can't do. Is there still hope? My voice sounds bad and I hate to hear myself. Everyday I rush how so I could have those two hours before my parents get home to sing. I have to put on my earphones and the music really loud so I don't hear myself. My voice is really bad. Is there hope for me? As I said before my voice is heavy, air, flat sometimes raspy on some notes and not very plesant to ears please help. thanks in advance

  • Answer:

There IS hope! A lot of times "you're your own worst critic." Something that you think is just how your voice IS is really just a habit that can be chnaged! I was shocked when I started taking voice lessons. I thought my voice was really bad but my voice teacher said it wasn't, and meant it. She helped me get rid of a lot of my bad habits and told me proper techniques to use when singing. It really wasn't about my actual voice at all, it was HOW I was singing! I've found that to be true with a lot of people. Don't give up if you love singing. Take lessons from a pro because they can help you.

D: It can be very difficult for some people to judge their own singing. Please keep this in mind before you decide you have a terrible voice. You really can't go by what friends and family say. They are usually sincere when they give opinions, but they are not experts, and they are biased in your favor. You need to have an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor look at the swelling on your neck. The doc will tell you if there is damage, and if it is permanent. If you really want to know if you have talent, you need to find a church or school choir director who will be up front with you, or even better, go to a good (I mean experienced) vocal coach/teacher. Ask if you can have a free consultation. Best wishes.

yea.. you can improve your voice by proper practice. Generally singers practice lower octaves to make higher octave sounding clear and unstressed. It's strage but true. I am also a vocalist and I can sing in high pitch easily due to this practice. Thanks to my teacher and all other singers who told me this secret. But I want to share a point that music or singing is not about high pitch or beautiful voice. It's all about how you convey your feelings with your music and this is the essence of music.

Sure there are many great voice coaches out there but the one I got to Is the Astly Kcir company my self. if you wan their number it's. 1-(985)-655-2500 their nation wide and quite well known for making people with bad voices have life changes.
