What is mid voice?

What is my singing voice and help please?

• I have a very weak singing voice but I think it is because I haven't built it up in my teen years( sounds odd, I know :P ). I believe I can easily hit the "A" below middle C. I can hit the high "C" and high "D" I believe, but anything higher than that makes my voice crack (I don't know if that is just me or my weak voice). Naturally singing, my voice is soft-sounding. I think if I built my voice up I could have a nice one, but now that it is weak, I don't want people to hear it. My mom has an almost operatic voice, and I'm always embarrassed because I think if people hear me sing, they will compare it to her voice. I'm also just naturally shy about singing if front of other people. Encouragement? :( I love to sing and I want to have a good voice, but I need encouragement.
