How do i improve my singing voice?

  • *story time* Well, i can't really sing; i have a moderately decent-ish singing voice, but i have a hard time hitting high notes, and my voice is pretty deep. So i really forgot about singing, and decided to take up death growling, because i found that i was better at it, and i've been doing it in the shower for about 8 months, but now that i think of it, i think i would like to do something in the shower that didn't freak my parents out. (that's what she said) Also, i'd just like to sound nice when singing anywhere in general. So, basically, i'm just wondering how i can improve my singing voice, because it'd be nice to sing duets with my girlfriend, and to hit high notes easily. Suggestions?

One word: practice. As you practice, your larynx (place where your vocal cords are attached) contracts and dilates. For you, your larynx can't contract very well. The more you practice, the better your larynx gets at contracting.
