Im going to take my first Singing lesson....??? ( Asking again )?

  • Hi , im 16 years old. I'm going to take my first vocal lesson cause i want to be a singer. But im very shy practicing at home... So my question is.. Can i go in a recording studio and practice in there doing like .. exercises , Scales. etc..?? I need a yes or a no.!?

  • Answer:

I am a voice teacher and also direct in Musical THEATRE. You HAVE to get used to singing in front of anyone, if you want to be a singer. Practising on your own, will not help your shyness. The more times you sing in front of people, the less shy you will get. Why are you shy practising at home? I know that singing in front of family is the MOST stressful for a shy person. Even the professionals do not like singing in front of their family. However, if you start now and get used to singing in front of anyone, then you will be less and less shy as the weeks go on. You cannot be "a singer" and just sing for yourself. Don't forget. You must like your vocal teacher and she must like you, otherwise your training will not get very far. Also, hopefully she will not make you sing a style that you do not like, or which your voice is not suited to. Good Luck.

What you need is to rent a studio with a piano, a quiet space away from others, so you do not disturb them....then you can practise to your heart's content. When you have some music that is ready to perform for others, then you can take it out of the studio and dazzle them!! I would say 'no' about a recording studio: it is an expensive space, with all sorts of electronic equipment for making recordings. You don't need all that. A recording studio would be, btw, quite expensive to rent, especially in comparison to renting as small rehearsal studio. I like practising in private, too. I don't like to impose on my family or neighbors by asking them to put up with all that noise !! It makes it easier all around to find a private spot to do your spade work. Then you all remain friends.

You should practice more in front of others so that you can get over your shyness. Ask some of your real good friends to come over and listen to you sing for 2 weeks. Make sure theses friends aren't hypocritical, but will be honest and give you some positive feedback o.k. Also, the best thing would be is to pray to God, so that He can fully guide you through it and be your voice. Know that you able to do this and don't be afraid! I have faith that it will go very well, even though I don't know you personally, that's just the kind of person I am! Best of luck to you, my friend! Let us all know how it went o.k.
