How to breathe properly when singing?

• I am currently in the process of finding a quality singing teacher but until then I want to know how to breathe while I sing. I forget how to breathe sometimes while I sing so I find that when I'm done my voice becomes raspy which I know isn't good. So whats a good way to breathe consistently while singing. Sometimes I'll breathe just fine during a song but its not consistent. So how do I make my breathing consistent? After singing for about 1 hour my breathing starts becoming erratic. I don't know why I think I just get tired.

  Ok, well, get sheet music and in between a good range of notes but a sign there that says take a breath. it can be a dot, a picture, anything as long as it helps. if that doesn't work than practice the song and pick a spot to breath in every couple of notes. hope i helped a but, if not sorry!
