How do I warm up my voice before I sing?

How to sing higher with a lower voice? (Please read description!!!) (Baritone I think)?

  • My voice is about in the middle, probably a little deeper than normal but definitely not a bass. I can sing in normal voice and Incan do falsettos pretty good, and I can sing lower than falsetto with just a normal head voice, but when I try to tune in with R&B singers it doesn't sound right... "Without You" by David Guetta I can sing the first part but when it starts to pick up I just don't sound right... And head voice seems to high and the change from the normal voice to that high just doesn't work right... Can anyone please help as best as possible!!! Thanks!!! P.S. I know most of the basics such as breathing, posture, and being relaxed is all important and I know how to do it correctly but thanks again!!! And if someone answers this correctly, it'll help sooo much!!!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

so what you're wanting is to be able to hit higher notes with you chest voice? Practice doing a "sigh" down from a note and go up little by little until it is more comfortable. Or do scales, going up a note at a time. Whatever you do, try going up a tiny bit at a time and keep working on one area until you are comfortable, then try to go higher. Does that make sense? Also, keep in mind that male singers in pop/r&b songs sing really high; definitely more into the high tenor range. And if you're not a tenor, you're not a tenor, as far as I know, and there's little you can do about it.
