How do you interpret the "scratchy" sound of rock music?

How do I make my rock music sound close to the original?

  • I bought an amp Spider IV 15, I really love music like muse plug in baby and nirvana smells like teen Spirit and many other rock and classic rock songs. But any time I play and read tabs I get online it doesn't sound right. Would I need more equipment? Cause all I got is the amp and electric guitar. So what I want to know is what would I need to sound like the music? Would I need a different electric guitar and which one? Would I need more equipment that I currently don't have? Please help I really love rock and want to know the songs and embrace the music even further!!!

  • Answer:

I say be original and go for a completely new sound

You may need some effect pedals. Kurt Cobain used a chorus effect a lot. If your amp doesn't have a built-in overdrive efffect you might need a distortion or overdrive pedal too. If you don't have a lot of money to spend on pedals, DigiTech makes some fairly inexpensive all-in-one multi-effect pedals that might be worth a look. http://www.amazon.com/DigiTech-RP90-Guitar-Multi-Effects-Processor/dp/B000XZMY7O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1328812397&sr=8-5 http://www.amazon.com/DigiTech-RP55-Guitar-Multi-Effects-Processor/dp/B0025V1REU/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1328812397&sr=8-8
