  you mean a composer? a music producer is someone who works with a band and/or artist to either finish or record a song. So if I wrote an acoustic song and didn't have the capabilities to make it a full band song I could go to a producer they could set me up with either MIDI or something or get a band to write with me then the producer and some sound engineers would help me record and the producer does the final mix. As a composer you write music using MIDI and then finalizing and publishing on your own. Either way you'd need better Midi look into some programs like LMMS or Acoustica and then when you get use to it you can download more sounds and buy a $100 Midi controller (like a keyboard) and compose better and easier.
