How should I clean my trumpet?

How could a trumpet be used in rock music?

  • So me and some of my buddies are looking to start a band but one of my buddies only knows how to play the trumpet (I think). I know we can't use the trumpet as a Mountain Dew holder, but how could we incorporate the sound of a trumpet into rock-like music without making it would like a dead animal? We don't want a dying elephant in the band. And I don't want to hurt my friend's feelings by telling her that she'd be useless in our band.

Listen to Neutral Milk Hotel, specifically In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (album). Also listen to a Miles Davis album called A Tribute to Jack Johnson, about a black boxer. Even though it's a "jazz" album, it has far more of a rock and roll or funky feel to it. And, yeah, ska-punk uses horns often.

listen to nofx stuff like "bob", "kill all the white man", "all outta angst" or "eat the meek ".
