I need help with picking the right amp.

Need help picking out a guitar and amp?

  • I have an 1000 dollar budget on an amp and guitar, I need the best quality I can get and not break that budget. I prefer Les Paul style guitars and I need an amp that can be used in concerts (No half stacks or stacks at all, just one big one piece amp) The guitar should cost more than the amp too, otherwise I'm ripping myself off

    If you're a beginner, get a line 6 spider combo amp (the "one big piece" style). the newest model out now i believe is the Spider IV. A 75 watt spider IV costs about $300. for a guitar, if you want a les paul then don't settle for less than a gibson. try and find a Gibson Les Paul Studio for around $700-$800. if you cant, then maybe find a good used one. it MIGHT run you a little over $1000 but it's worth it, trust me.

I would go with a high end Ibanez or Fender. Split the cost; $500 on guitar $500 on amp. Best way to go man. For the amp, I love Orange. Marshall is good too.

My recommendation would be as follows: Either a Fender Standard Strat or Epiphone Les Paul Standard both guitars are made well and if you don't like the sound of pickups you can change them out and be good to go. As far as amps go my recommendation would be one of the Marshall MG series each one has a different sound to them so you could probobly find one you really like, don't worry about the wattage to much, most of these amps have a line out so you could go to a board or mike the amp and still be heard at a gig.
