What does a band manager do?

We just started a band. And I was made band manager what his my specific role in the band? What are my main objectives in creating a "sold" band?
Answer:

band manager....he would arrange the tour schedule like sort the venue,hotels,travel ,etc and he is the guy that would try to get sponsor ship deals from the leading musical instrument mfr,s. He would arrange the media and publicity stuff like book signings...etc If there is any trouble in the band...he sorts it out and he would arrange all the road crew when on tour
