Whats the difference between a beat maker and a metranome?

  • i want a beat maker so i can start to produce music, but i want to know whats the difference between a beat maker and a metranome so i can figure out which one to buy

  • Answer:

typically a beat maker has sounds similar to drums. And a metronome has a single click tones or beep tones with an accent on beat 1. Usually used for musicians to practice with to strengthen trimming. It is possible to record with a metronome but you would quickly find limits on your creativity. Metronomes are getting more advanced with more options. There are alot of free ware software drum machines - I think a classic was created by a Swiss company propeller head called Rebirth- they emulated the classic drum machine sounds of a Roland 808, Roland 909, with a couple Tb 303's it is now free to download if you register but there is no tech support. http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/ The sounds from the original drum machines were used on alot of classic hip hop from 70's, 80's, 90's and still can be heard on the occasional new song these days. But if you want something that is portable and don't want to use a laptop perhaps you could try something from Korg, or Boss, or Roland, zoom, and loads of others. go to a music store and ask for a demo, those guys love demo-ing gear if it means not having to carry boxes downstairs - I know because I used to be one of those guys...

dumb question. a metranome is just a tool to keep the timing of a song. you want a beatmaker but if you dont yet know the difference, you probably shouldnt be using either.

Like the people ahead of me said a metronome is a device to keep the beat but this will give you a better explanation of it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metronome a beat maker is something like fruity loops or pro tools where you can join different sounds together to create a beat from the 1000's of sounds they have in the program. These are very hard to use and you usually need to be on them all day everyday or go to school to figure out how to use these good.

A metronome...Is commonly used by drummers (me) to help keep in time...It makes a click sound...all it does is...you follow the clicks...and it helps keep time...A beat maker, is exactly what it sounds like.

a metronome just keeps time and idk what a beat maker is. I think it just simply makes beats but not neccesarily keeps the time.

Avocado

a metranome is a beat to keep the rhythm...
