How do you make beats and add music to rap lyrics?

Rap/hip hop section:Any rappers who also know how to produce and make beats and mix as well?

  • Ok, so let me start of by this so I make it easy for you guys to help me: All I know to do is write lyrics to a beat my producer gives me, and I know how to flow, and I know how to stay on beat.. as far as the producing,beat making, my producer does all of that....I DONT KNOW ONE SINGLE THING..NOT ONE! i cant make a beat,i cant produce,cant mix a song..i just write to a beat,rap on beat,and i know how to flow... So my are where i need help is this: My producer is busy with his own music right now, so we cant work together anymore for a year, if not more..so my question is this: Is it impossible for me to learn how to do ALL of that stuff to the point where I dont need him anymore? I mean how hard will it be to learn all of it: producing,beat making,mixing my vocals with the beat,stopping,going back to erase my messed up vocals,adding effects,etc? And, please answer the above question, also state everything i need for a studio in my room..i have NOTHING, im starting from zero..plz tell me everything i need, and tell me the estimated prices and stuff (i want it to be good quality, so it sounds pro) Thank you very much.     Yes you can learn it all. Anyone can learn to producer and mix, it just takes a lot of time and determination. First off if i was you id start out with getting the program fruity loops watching a few tutorials and then messing around with it for a few weeks once you get better at it get go ahead and download some soundpacks they cost 20-100$ but come with a lot of sounds. You can do Producing mixing and mastering all on Fruity loops and its the cheapest way to go just starting out

Well, if you have the creative or musical ability to 'flow' you will be able to apply it to music production, it just means a small learning curve. You can learn how to make your own beats pretty quickly... I would suggest not buying desktop beat making software for your first learning experience. There are solid sites that let you make your own hip hop beats online, and the good ones take you by the hand and guide you through the process with support teams, tutorials, and videos showing you how to make rap beats. I know what you mean with the flow thing, and if you naturally have rhythm/tempo and creative abilities you should by all means start making your own beats. Not that he's the best rapper ever but Kanye West used to make one beat a day every day and even today some of those beats he made sell for millions, so you never know. Don't give up. yes, it is definetely possible to learn producing. Just get a sequencer like Fruity Loops and watch one of the countless video tutorials for it, you can find thousands online... If you know the basics of producing then you can start with mixing etc. but first you should start at the beatmaking
