English lyrics to Lucky by Ashily?

If English is not my first language, could I still make lyrics in English?

• I'm a songwriter, and been planning to start creating lyrics on my music compositions. But since English is not my native/first-language (I'm an Indonesian), I've often have some difficulties especially/particularly in making beautiful-rhyming lyrics. i feel that I find it much more easier to make a 'direct' approach for the lyrics, rather than "words-play" form of lyrics, or too-metaphorical kind of lyrics , which could be found in many English songs. so my question is: could I still continue making lyrics in English? or better to just stick with my native language: Indonesian? the reason why I keep insisting want my songs to be in English is so a lot of non-Indonesians people (ie: people overseas, internationally) can also listen & understand what i'm saying in my songs. But the problems always seems to be in the grammar, sentence-structure, and also lack of vocabulary.

  Of course you can!! It's up to you though, whatever comes naturally. Any way to express yourself. And don't worry too much about sentence structure. The best songs don't make sense! You have some artistic license! For vocabulary, just listen to the world around you. Look at ABBA! The grooviest songs, and yet they spoke... about 100 words of English? Maybe? Good luck!
