i love writing, what are some good things to keep in mind when writing lyrics or poems? should i write about what i'm going through? what do you like to hear about in the songs you listen to? all the help you can give me is appreciated [:

Once, after writing several poems about different things I was going through mostly bad times, I read them to a man I respected a great deal. He did not say he did not like them or they were not good.What he said was that he had read some poetry in the senior newsletter that uplifted him and made him want to live another ninety-five years. He told me a poem should help someone or offer the world a positive outlook on life so that more beauty could be appreciated. Food for thought.
