Well the face to face part is probably pretty obvious in the literal way. So they're probably standing right across from each other. When it says they don't see eye to eye it probably means they don't agree for some reason. so there are both there and together but they don't agree on something maybe.

it means you were together and/or right next to each other but didn't have the same views.

Like you're there but not fully there like not on the same page but in the same book. theres something missing in a relationship but you can make it work...thats what i get from it.

i think it means, we understnad each other but we dont agree with each other.
