How do you find out the keys of a song?

• I'm totally confused. How do you find out the keys of a song? I have a guitar tab of Ding Dong song, and i have no idea how the fck u read those.   Hi, to work out a song's key from a chord chart, you first need to know which chords come from each key, then see which key the majority of the chart's chords share. Usually, when a song is written in particular key, all the chords in that song will be made up of the notes from the key's major scale. These chords are called diatonic chords, though occasionally, a chord may be included which has notes from outside the scale, called a 'breakaway'. For example, the chords in the first section are: Bm, G, A and F#. All these chords (except F#) come from the key of D: D, Em, F#m, G, A, Bm, C#dim. Seeing as all but one of the chords comes from the key of D, and the F# is a variation of D's F#m, the first section is basically in the key of D. There is a seperate section where the chords are: Dm, Bb, F and C. All these chords come from the key of F: F, Gm, Am, Bb, C, Dm, Edim. So the second section is in the key of F. Peace
