Why does my eye hurt?

Why does my contact lens hurt my right eye?

  • I've had contact lens for about 5 months now. For the first 2 months everything was okay but around October my eye started to hurt after I had my contact lens in for more than 6 hours (this was happening everyday.) I tried switching solutions, which helped for about 3 days. I tried not wearing eye makeup which helped for one day. Then I got entirely new lens and the pain stopped for 2 days. I clean my lens everyday. I make sure they're right side out. I know there's never any hairs, fibers, or dirt in them. And this is never in my left eye, just my right. Also: -I have astigmatism. - I don't sleep in my contact lens. -I used to have Bausch and Lamb Toric and now I have PureVision. -My eyes are asymmetrical. Please help, my mother said that if I have another eye problem I'm not getting contacts again!

I wore glasses, then switched to contacts for years, then I had the same issue. Pain in my eyes, red eyes, dry eyes, etc. This could be an allergies either environmental or to the contacts themselves. Give yourself a break from them for a week or two. Contacts often lead to dry eye syndrome. This is not to scare you, it happens sometimes. It happened to me. I dislike wearing glasses, I feel like I can't see the whole world - I feel like I can only see inside my frames. So I went to a Lasik doctor to see if I was able to have it done. He said that my eyes were in fact dry. He said fish oil helps. It is the best!!!! Start taking it. It's not only good for your eyes, but your over all health. After a few weeks, I was able to have Lasik. Sounds like you are younger, I apologize if you are not. You must be old enough to have Lasik done. Your eyes should not have changed prescriptions in the past year. And it is expensive. If you are wanting to stick with contacts - again, give them a rest for a week or two. Try allergy eye drops and/or Systane preservative free eye drops. Let your Mom know that it's normal to have issues with contacts, especially if the weather is dry. God Bless.

Hi. there is a chance that your lens is not cleaned properly or the lens is inside out. i suggest that you leave your contacts in the solution over night and wear Your glasses. If this problem persists then i suggest that you discontinue using the contact lenses as you will do your vision more damage than good/ Hope this helps

in the know

if you are in pain, don't use the contacts. make an eye appointment, and find the solution. maybe they're just the wrong size. good idea to give up the eye makeup for awhile.

It's all allergies. This happens to my as well. My eye doctor prescribed me a steroid drop and an other drop This makes them feel great by the next day!
