Answer:
O2Optix were discontinued in the United States on Oct 1st, 2011. They were good for young people who didn't have dry eye problems because they were very resistant to deposits. AcuVue Advance was discontinued in early 2011 and replaced with the newer designed AcuVue Advance Plus. The original Advance can not be ordered. AcuVue Oasys remains the number one 2 week contact lens on the market. This is because the number one problem with contact lenses is dryness. As a 2 week replacement lens, this lens is great for dry eye problems. It is thin and comfortable. It is a silicone hydrogen, which means that it is 5-6 times more oxygen permeable than the older material used for the 1 Day Moist. The 1 Day AcuVue Moist is a wonderful single-use lens alternative. It is extremely convenient and yet reasonably priced (for a single use lens). The fact that it uses an obsolete material may be okay because the lens is rarely over-worn since it is tossed nightly. Bottom line: If money were not an issue, I would recommend the single-use AcuVue TruEyes since they combine the single use convenience of 1 Day AcuVue with the high oxygen permeability of the Oasys. Between the two options you listed, it is impossible to tell which you would prefer without having you try them. Your doctor can easily give you trials of each for comparison. I would recommend you try one of each type in one eye for a week. Then decide... Just to remind you, although you can "help" your doctor arrive at the lens that works best, you can not "write" your own prescription. The FDA requires a written prescription from a licensed eye doctor in order for you to legally purchase lenses.

I also have very dry sensitive eyes. The only contacts that work for me are the 1 a day acuvue moist. They are the best contacts! I even tried out about 3 other brands before the acuvues and all three brands really irritated my eyes. Plus you can throw away your contacts after one day! That is the greatest thing ever, especially when your tired and don't have to worry about putting your contacts away. Plus you don't have to worry if you lose one or rip one. 1 a day acuvue moist is the way to go!
