Do you enjoy your job as a paralegal?

Would you do a job you enjoy more for less money?

  • I recently go a job at a currency brokers 5weeks ago doing telesales and I haven't started very well, Barely had any sales and my boss is starting to criticize me. I found out the other day that I can apply for a teaching assistants job which will start in about 6 weeks. Its my career aim to become a teacher after my open degree. Problem is it would be allot less money than what I am on now if I get it, this is because it will be less hours not only that, the job I am at now even though I don't enjoy it and seem to be struggling at it could still potentially be a good career with promotion opportunities which could be allot of money. But at the end of the day I done teaching assistant work before and I loved it, it never felt like work. So should I try and get a job which would be less money and hours but its something I will like which would help lead me to the career I want to get in the future. Or should I stay at a job which I dont enjoy as much and struggle at for more money and on the off chance that it can potentially lead to a good career with allot of money?

money shouldnt be a huge issue in your career choice... I'm currently doing an apprenticship in a school, training to become a teaching assistant. The money is rubbish, literally just under £400 a month.. but i LOVE my job.. i love spending time in the school, and helping the children learn.. although yes, i do wish i had a little more money, i feel as though my job is so rewarding, especially when i know i have just taught a child something they didnt know before if you aim to be a teacher, then you should take all the paths to get up to that point.. you may as well be happy when you work, and when you become a teacher, you get paid quite a lot anyway (in my opinion lol) do what you feel is best, but at the end of the day, it's your happiness that counts more than money i think

Depends on your economic situation I guess. Personally I would pursue what you love doing.. You spend most of your life working so you wanna be doing something you enjoy and when you enjoy it you tend to excel and do much better. In the long run I think moving will be a good decision because if you show your interest and dedication you can move up the ranks.

If you're in a situation where you can't afford to have a lower wage (for example, if you have high mortgages payments to meet), then it's not worth your while to swap jobs. If you are absolutely certain that you want to become a teacher and you have the means of achieving that goal in the future, then go for the teaching assistant job (but only if you don't have any financial problems). You will only be promoted at your current job if you show that you are deserving of a promotion, if your boss is criticising you then that's not a good sign.
